Network Upgrade/Re-IP

Upper management decided to migrate some network solutions/hardware from one to another due to cost savings. I got dispatched to support a collegue's site for the upgrade and re-ip.

This site is a warehouse site, it has a lot of warehouse technology such as label printers, scan guns, vehicle mounted computers and etc. All these devices communicate with various servers on the network. Re-ip means these devices would have to be reconfigured. This also includes all office technology--network printers, workstations, and more.

  • Prepared configuration USB sticks for warehouse devices
  • Reserved IP (DHCP) for network printers and label printers.
  • Manual checks on all workstations (e.g. office computers, mobile carts) to confirm devices take on new IP subnets.
  • Worked with AIMS to reconfigure label printers being connected correctly on the print server.
  • Reset/reconnected and logged in with all vehicle mounted computers and scan guns to ensure devices are able to connect wirelessly and reach their respective servers.
  • Configured computer specifically for Baxter team to ensure their operation remains smooth and functional.
  • Monitored warehouse device wireless connection and reported back to network team to adjust WAP coverage by location where there is weak or no signal.
  • Hypercare for WAP coverage, network storage, and warehouse technology operation.
  • Cleaned up and recycled cardboard boxes that shipped all the network gears and appliances.
  • Allocated disposal pile for old network equipment that is replaced by the project.
